stray polaroid
out now
i was working on my first fine art exhibition, using my stack of polaroids to level out the frames so the wax would dry evenly. this polaroid fell out of the deck and instantly brought tears to my eyes. this song is for anyone who has been betrayed.

national park
out now
i met a girl who captivated me in every way. somehow she was a dancer, a pilot, an iron woman and a painter all in one. i thought if i could ever take her on a date, i’d want to take her dancing… in a national park.

pasture girl
out now
i spent the majority of my life running from myself, particularly my bisexuality. this song is for anyone out there who is struggling to accept themselves as they are. i hope you know that you don’t have to run and you don’t have to hide.

The Red Road
In my debut exhibition, I express my connection to the profound Native American philosophy, the Medicine Wheel (Sacred Hoop)—particularly The Red Road.
As spoken by Oglala Sioux medicine man, Black Elk, to be walking The Red Road is to live a spiritual life embodying the 7 Sacred Virtues of the Lakota:
Wóčhekiya : Prayer
Wičákha : Honesty
Wahwala : Humility
Waúnšila : Compassion
Waóhola : Respect
Wawokiye : Generosity
Wóksape : Wisdom
This video features a 144” diameter fabric sculpture made entirely from William Frederick collection scraps
The seven photos below feature abstract fabric shapes adhered to wax in custom walnut frames

SOPHOMORE ALBUM
Poems from Willow Creek
This is my Papa, L. Joseph Spear.
In 1996, he wrote a book of poetry titled Poems from Willow Creek.
In the preface, he stated
In the past I have never made a serious attempt to write any poetry or other written works of any consequence. This attempt, I am sure, will have no literary impact on the world!
This album is my attempt to help him believe the opposite. It’s a tribute to him.

I love creating worlds for myself and others to heal + play in. To celebrate the release of my sophomore album, Poems from Willow Creek, I curated an immersive concert experience including print photography, super 8 film, grasses + willow branches from my family’s farm, up-cycled vintage apparel, and hand-painted murals.
